Sgt Mike Walker, CD
-
Sgt Mike Walker will be retiring from the Canadian Forces on May 9th 2008, after 21 plus years of loyal and dedicated service. Mike joined the CF Reg Force in July of 1987 after 1 year on the YTEP program, and began an exciting career with the 8TH Canadian Hussars before re-badging to the Royal Canadian Dragoons in CFB Petawawa. After a year in Petawawa, Mike was headed to the “Temple of Knowledge’, otherwise known as the Royal Canadian Armour School in CFB Gagetown. After 3 plus years in Gagetown, candle moth syndrome set in and Mike occupation transferred to the Fire Service in 1991. After completing his QL 3 course Mike was posted to CFB Greenwood until July of 1996, at which point he was posted to FA (A) and sailed onboard virtually all East Coasts ships at one time or another. Following a rewarding 3 year tour with the Navy, Mike was once again on his way back to the Valley and CFB Greenwood. Posted to the Shearwater Fire Department in Jan of 2004, Mike has been a Crew Chief, Deputy Platoon Chief and for the last year and a half, Platoon Chief on Blue Platoon. Mike has received an offer and will begin work with the Halifax International Airport Fire Dept in May 2008. We wish Mike the best in his future endeavors and look forward to regular visits thanks to his new career’s close proximity. A farewell luncheon in Mike’s honor will be held on May 2nd 2008.
