We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Phillip Maurice Ross Makin, CD (Ret’d) of Edmonton on 1 December 2025 at age of 81 years.
Phil joined the Royal Canadian Engineers as a Combat Engineer in 1960 and served for 17 years with the Canadian Military Engineers. After completing his basic Field Engineer training at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack BC his career included postings to 4 Field Squadron in Werl Germany, I Field Squadron in Petawawa ON and 1 Airborne Field Squadron in Edmonton AB. Phil considered his time with the Airborne Regiment to be one of his greatest career achievements.
