    CWO Devin Whiting enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on 28 May 1987 and spent his first 13 years as a Combat Engineer with postings to 1 CER in Chilliwack, BC, 5 RGC in Valcartier, QC, 4 ESR in Gagetown, NB, and back to 1 CER, which had now relocated to Edmonton, AB. During this time, he deployed to Kuwait in 1991 and supported several domestic operations such as the Ice Storm in the Montréal area and the Saguenay floods in northern Québec.

    In August 2000, he became a Water, Fuels and Environment Technician, remaining within the Engineer Branch. In 2001, he was posted to 4 Wing Cold Lake where he completed a six-month tour to Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert in 2004 and again in 2007.

    In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Sgt and posted to Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) in Saint Jean-sur-Richelieu, QC, where he spent three years as an instructor in the Leadership Division.

    In 2011, he was promoted to WO and posted to 17 Wing Construction Engineer Squadron as the 171 CEF Warrant Officer. Following a deployment to Sicily, Italy, in support of OP MOBILE, he occupied the positions of 17 WCE Ops WO, Ops Director, and in 2014, A/SWO. He was then promoted to the rank of MWO and assumed the position of 17 Wing CE SWO.

    In 2016, he was posted to the Real Property Operations Group, Detachment Borden, as the Detachment Sergeant Major. By July 2017, he had deployed to Kuwait to be the Camp Sergeant Major for the Operational Support Hub, South West Asia, for the next eight months.

    CWO Whiting was promoted to his current rank in May 2018 and was posted to Real Properties Operations Unit, Ontario Region, as the Unit Chief Warrant Office, where he currently works.

    CWO Whiting is happily married to Major (Retired) Bellemare-Whiting. After more than 35 years of loyal and dedicated service, he will join her in retirement in Wasaga Beach where, along with their fur babies, they will enjoy the area and all it has to offer.
