Capt Ovidiu D. Anca will be retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces on 29 Sep 2017 after 8+ years of loyal and dedicated service.

Capt Anca joined the CAF on 06 Jan 2009 as a Construction Engineer under the DEO program, bringing in 15+ years of previous experience in the construction field accumulated in both Europe and North America. He attended his basic training in St-Jean, QC, followed by Common Army Phase (CAP) with the Combat Training Center (CTC) in CFB Gagetown. Between Phase 1 and Phase 2 training he had the chance to assist and work with the DND Project Directors in Directorate Land Infrastructure (DLI) and also with the DND Project Managers with Directorate Construction Project Delivery (DCPD).

Upon completion of Phase 3 and Phase 4 of the Construction Engineer Officer (CEO) training in February 2011, he was posted to CFSU (Ottawa) as the CE Requirements Officer managing the Maintenance and Repairs Program for the entire DND NCR Real Property Infrastructure. While there, he deployed on the last Roto, Roto 3 of OP Attention in Kabul, Afghanistan in the role of NATO-Coalition Infrastructure Advisor.

Upon his return he was posted with the Canadian Forces Fire Marshal Office (CFFM) in 2014, occupying the CFFM 2-2 (Projects and Equipment) position. His involvement in various sets of projects ranging from minor capital construction to personal protective equipment, and to Air Quality Management System as part of the overall DND RPP (Respiratory Protection Program), exposed him to the firefighting side of the Construction Engineering Military Trade.

Ovidiu will remain in the Ottawa area with his lovely wife Rodica and his two sons Robert and Paul. He is now ready to continue his career in public service and the private sector in both the NCR and the GTA.

A Departure with Dignity (DWD) luncheon will be held at 1130 hrs on 28 Sep 2017 at TBD location. Anecdotes and retirement wishes for Ovidiu may be sent by email to CWO GDJ Slaunwhite at Gerard.Slaunwhite@forces.gc.c
