After more than 21 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, WO D.B. Short, CD, (00149) will retire on 21 May 2025. A DWD will be held on June 13, 2025 at the Mic Mac tavern in Dartmouth, NS at 12:00. RSVP, anecdotes and well wishes may be sent to WO L.W. Gale: larry.gale@forces.gc.ca
WO Daniel Short was born and raised in Bay Robert's, NL, Dan enrolled in the CAF as an RMS Clerk in 2003. After basic training and trades training at CFB Borden, future postings include HMCS HALIFAX (operational tour SNMG1 in 2005), CFRC Det Corner Brook, and CFB Petawawa.
In 2013 Dan set his sights on a higher calling and remustered to Firefighter. After another round of training at CFB Borden, postings included 8 Wing Trenton, 4 Wing Cold Lake, Naval Damage Control school in Halifax, and finally ending his CAF
Dan, his spouse Ashley, and two sons (Jake and Luke) will be staying in the Halifax area. Not straying too far from the CAF Fire trade, Dan will be starting a new chapter in his career with the DND Fire service, working at HMC Dockyard in Halifax.
