After more than 10 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, MCpl M. Vanasse, (00339) will retire on 1 May 2026.

Sgt Vanasse enrolled on March 16, 2016, in Ottawa as a Combat Engineer. Throughout his
career, he served in several units and held various leadership positions, notably at Valcartier,
with the 5th Combat Engineer Regiment, the 35 Combat Engineer Regiment, as well as at the
CFLRS as a Section Commander.
Alongside his military service, he also distinguished himself in sports as a hockey player,
referee, and coach of the Lionnes de Valcartier, participating in several regional and national
championships. His leadership and dedication earned him the honour of being named 2022
Coach of the Year for the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Army.
Recognized for his professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to the mission, he was also
awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal. After more ten years of loyal and dedicated
service, he retires with pride to devote more time to his family and to support his spouse in her
own military career.
