CWO Dwayne Waller joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a Combat Engineer in Nov 1995 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Following Basic Training and Basic Field Engineer training, he was posted to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment at CFB Chilliwack in June 1996.

During his career, CWO Waller served in many positions within 1 CER and ascended from the rank of Sapper to Warrant Officer. In 2015 he was posted to 1CMBG as the G3 Trg 2. CWO Waller returned to 1CER in 2016 as a Squadron Sergeant Major. During his second tenure at 1CER, he served as the 12 Field Squadron Sergeant Major, 13 CIED Squadron Sergeant Major and 18 Administration Squadron Sergeant Major. In 2019, he was posted to Wainwright as an Observer Controller Trainer. After one year, CWO Waller was posted to the Joint Task Force North Headquarters in Yellowknife as the Support Directorate and General Engineering Support SM. CWO Waller was appointed as the Regimental Sergeant Major for Personnel Support Services at CFB Gagetown in 2022. In 2024, he was posted to Edmonton where he completed second language training.

CWO Waller served on many expeditionary operations; 2000 on OP PALLADIUM as a Field Section Member, 2004 on Operation ATHENA as an Engineer Section 2IC, 2008 on OP ATHENA as an Engineer Section Commander, 2011 on OP ATHENA as the Engineer Squadron Operations Warrant Officer, 2017 on OP UNIFIER as the SM of the Engineer Training Group, 2019 and 2020 on OP REASSURANCE as the OCT Engineer SM. While north of the 60, he deployed on Operation NANOOK-NUNALIVUT as the Joint Task Force Support Center SM and on Operation NANOOK-NUNAKPUT as the Task Force SM. In addition to the overseas deployments, he served on various domestic operations to include the Manitoba floods in 1997, the ice storms in Quebec in 1998, the Salmon Arm fires in B.C. and the G8 summit in Kananaskis, B.C.

CWO Waller was appointed to his current position as CME Branch CWO on 13 Aug 2025.
