CMEA Crest

The Canadian Military Engineers Association was incorporated under the Federal Corporations Act in 2010 as a Not For Profit (non-charitable) Corporation.  The new 'Canada Not For Profit Corporations Act (CNCA)' came into effect on October 17, 2014. The new Act establishes a new set of rules for federally incorporated not-for-profit corporations in Canada. These new rules are modern, flexible and more suited to the needs of the not-for-profit sector.

The CNCA does not automatically apply to existing corporations requiring us to take action to make the transition to the CNCA or be dissolved. Steps to continue have been completed. As a result, our Letters Patent have been replaced with a Certificate of Continuance (Transition) and our By-Laws have been amended to reflect changes in the new Act.

The CMEA , as a Not For Profit Corporation, is managed by a Board of Directors with advice from a number of subject matter Vice Presidents and ex-officio advisors who hold various appointments within the Canadian Military Engineers.Under the new Act and By-Laws you will also notice that members of the Association are now CMEA chapters, and individuals now termed Associates.

The resulting corporate documents have been posted:
