After more than 28 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, WO Troy Gibson retired from the CAF on 03 March 2020. Congratulatory letters and anecdotes can be sent to Sgt J.S. Morin at Sebastien.Morin3@forces.gc.ca.

WO Gibson joined the Band of the Ceremonial Guard in Ottawa in April 1990 and commenced Basic Military Qualification training. He served with the Guards until 1992 when he joined 20 Independent Field Battery in Lethbridge, AB. 20 Independent Field Battery was soon incorporated into 18 Air Defence Regiment where he spent the next 6 years. In 1997, WO Gibson was accepted into the Combat Engineers but waited until 1998 for his Qualification Level 3 course at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Gagetown, NB. He served on three overseas tours; Op Kinetic, Op Athena, and Op Archer and four domestic operations; three times on Op Lentus and once on Op Grizzly.
WO Gibson spent the majority of his Regular Force career with 1 Combat Engineer Regiment with only two postings outside of the Unit. Starting in 2007, he spent three years at Canadian Forces Base Suffield where he was an Operation Room Supervisor and the first Range Maintenance Recce Sgt. In 2010, he was posted back to 1 CER and held the positions of Cartage Section Commander, Resources Troop Recce Sergeant, and Resources Troop Warrant. In 2015, he was posted to the Canadian Maneuver Training Centre at CFB Wainwright, fulfilling the role of Bomb Cell Commander for two years. Promoted to Warrant Officer and posted back to 1 CER in 2017, he occupied the positions of Resources Troop WO, 13/15 SQMS, and Hy/Ress Tp
WO. WO Gibson has earned the CD1, SWASM, GCS-SWA, Nato –Kosovo, and the CPSM. When WO Gibson retired on 03 March 2020, he had served for 28 years and 248 days.
