WO/Adj Marco Toscani, CD

    Warrant Toscani was born 5 June 1961 in Hauterive, known since 1982 as Baie-Comeau, Québec. His father was born in Italy and retired in Canada after working as a fitter welder for 20 years. Warrant Toscani’s mother was born in St. Luke Rimouski, Quebec and retired after being a homemaker taking care of a family of four children. Warrant Toscani and his three sisters have all married, but unlike his sisters, he has no children.

    Warrant Toscani began his career in 1974 as a young Sea Cadet with the “HMCS Discovery” in Vancouver, B.C. In 1975 he completed two weeks training in Comox, B.C. In 1976 he was promoted to Leading Seamen. He then moved in 1977 with his parents to Baie Comeau, Qc. During his last six months of high school in 1979, he accepted to work days as an apprentice plumber, replacing a few school days per week with workdays. After successfully completing his secondary five, he accepted a second job as a machine maintainer and operator.

    Warrant Toscani enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces on 20 November 1981 as a 171 Air Defence Technician and received an accelerated promotion to Corporal in 1983 at CFS Chibougamau, Qc. He also worked for three years in CFS Chibougamau as a Commissionaire. He then moved to CFB North Bay, Ontario in 1987 and again during his free time, had a second job working as a Hotel building maintainer.

    Warrant Toscani remustered in 1991 as a 622 Electrical Generating Systems Technician, were he finally found the challenge he needed to be content with a single job. As an Engineer, he was posted to CFB Chilliwack then to CFB Cold Lake in 1991, BFC Bagotville in 1995, BFC Valcartier in 1997, (NATO SatCom) Folly Lake, NS in 2002, BFC Bagotville in 2006 and BFC Valcartier in 2007.

    Warrant Toscani completed TAV’s in Inuvik, Iqaluit, Yellowknife NWT, Canada; Arkansas, Texas, USA and overseas in Dubaï. He has completed four tours of duty, (UN Mission) Bosnia in 1994, (NATO Missions) CFS Alert in 1996, and Bosnia in 1999. His latest mission was in Afghanistan 2007 in conjunction with CSOR.

    Warrant Toscani is presently living with his wife Carole, in Quebec City. They will be retiring in Drummondville in August 2009 were a new adventure will begin.
