WO Hamilton enrolled in the CAF as an Infantry Officer in June 1999. After completing trades training, he was employed with Bravo Company and Recce Platoon with the 1st Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) Bn. In 2003, WO Hamilton was attached posted to 3 RCR Recce Platoon, where he deployed to Camp Julien, the main base for the Canadian Contingent of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan, as part of OP ATHENA. In 2006, WO Hamilton returned to Afghanistan as part of Roto 0306 with Charlie Company, 8 Platoon, with 1 RCR Battle Group.
In 2009, WO Hamilton accepted an occupational transfer (OT) to Firefighter. Once he completed trade training, he was posted to 14 Wing Greenwood as a Firefighter and Crew Chief. In 2014, WO Hamilton was posted to the Canadian Forces Fire and CBRN Academy (CFFCA) at CFB Borden as an instructor. After seven years at CFFCA, WO Hamilton was posted to the Transition Centre at 22 Wing North Bay as the PL WO. WO Hamilton was responsible for ill and injured members recovering or transitioning from the CAF.
WO Hamilton is grateful for the experiences and cherishes all the friendships he has made along this unforgettable journey. We wish to congratulate WO Hamilton on his successful career and hope his retirement is as prosperous as the time spent in the CAF. Christopher is not off duty yet as he has accepted a position with the Borden Fire Service within the Public Service sector and will continue to work within DND. Best wishes to WO Hamilton. Continue to enjoy and love life the way you do and remember that life is too short to drink cheap scotch!
