We regret to advise of the death of Firefighter Warrant Officer William Harold “Bill” Patey, CD (Ret’d) on Thursday, 3 November 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, at age 75 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in North Sydney NS, Bill was a Firefighter with the Canadian Armed Forces for almost 30 years. He served across Canada and on two tours in Germany. Bill’s postings included locations like Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake AB, CFB Ottawa and 4 Wing Baden-Soellingen. Bill also served two tours at Canadian Forces Station Alert NU.

Bill retired from the Armed Forces in 1992 at CFB Cold Lake at the rank of Warrant Officer and moved to Thunder Bay where he worked for airport security.

There will be no visitation.  A private family service will take place at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney.  Memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center, the SPCA or a charity of your choice.  Online condolences can be left for the family by sending condolences to the funeral home.
