    We regret to advise of the unexpected death of Warrant Officer Mark Thomas Boychuck, CD, on 25 February 2019 at 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown, NB at the age of 41 years. 

    A native of Montreal QC, Mark joined the Canadian Forces in 1999, completed his Combat Engineer training at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa, ON and was posted to 2 Combat Engineer Regiment (CER) late that year. During his time with 2 CER Mark deployed to Bosnia in 2001, Kabul - Afghanistan in 2003, and Kandahar- Afghanistan 2006 and 2010. Mark left 2 CER in 2011 on posting to Wainwright, AB. He was subsequently posted to 4 Engineer Support Regiment in Gagetown in 2016 and, later, to the Canadian Forces Transition Centre Gagetown in 2018.

    While on deployments, Mark’s quick thinking and reaction were key in aiding and saving lives. He was awarded the Commander-in-Chief Commendation and the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.

    A memorial gathering will take place at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, 1 March 2019 from 3-6:00 PM. Donations in Marks memory can be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital. Online condolences can be sent to the Funeral Home.
