WO Lenny Canam, CD

    WO Canam enrolled in the Canadian Forces on 4 Sep 1983, on the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Regiment.

    Upon completion of his QL3 training, he served with the Second Battalion from Sep 83 – Aug 98. After his tenure with 2RCR, WO Canam attended Second Language Training from Aug 98 – Jun 99, facilitating his posting to the Infantry School from Jun 99 – Jun 02. From Jun 02 to the present, he fulfilled the Infantry Tactics NCO position at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering, initially with the Field Engineer Training Squadron, and most recently with the Tactics Squadron, until his retirement in May 2012.

    Warrant Canam’s career, a total of 28 yrs 10 months, was served entirely in CFB Gagetown. During his years of service to the Crown, he has participated in two Operational Tours: Op SNOWGOOSE in Nicosia, Cyprus (Sep 91 – Mar 92); Op CAVALIER in Visoko, Bosnia (Nov 92 – May 93). WO Canam also deployed to Jamaica to function as an Instructor at the Jamaica Junior Command Staff College from Jul - Dec 96.

    During his tenure here in the Fredericton / Oromocto Area, WO Canam obtained the qualification of Provincial Level Hockey referee and often contributes his personal time officiating for the Base. He is also a referee-in-chief of the Oromocto Officials Association and is responsible to Zone 3 within Hockey New Brunswick as the chief clinic coordinator and senior evaluator. WO Canam was also involved with the local Motorcycle Chapters “Defenders”, as the President of the club he ensured that the club openly supporting local charities within the community such as the Oromocto Food Bank and the local SPCA shelter.

    He has a daughter, Katelyn, currently living in England. His retirement plans are to return to his hometown of Florenceville, New Brunswick, where his family and extended relatives continue to reside.
