Along with his younger brother Darren and his parents, WO Pittman spent his childhood like many of his peers. Learning the value of hard work, being a good person, and a good sense of humour. He was married in 2005 to his best friend and biggest supporter Patricia (Trish) and was blessed with his two children, Kaylie in 2006, and Cade in 2009.

WO Pittman joined the CAF in Corner Brook, NL on 14 July 2000 and entered the recruit school in St-Jean. After his recruit training, he attended his QL3 at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering at CFB Gagetown.

In 2003, his first deployment was on Roto 0, Kabul, Afghanistan where he was a member of the EOD Team. On returning from TF 3-06 in Afghanistan in 2007, then MCpl Pittman moved east to Gagetown until
2011 until 2015 when he returned to 2 CER, where he was promoted to his current rank in 2013.

In 2015 WO Pittman was posted to 1 Engineer Support Unit in Kingston where he was a Combat Engineer SME. He deployed to Erbil Iraq in 2016.
