    We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Leonard Martin “Len” Espetveidt (Ret’d) of Marwayne, AB on 30 January 2009 at the age of 91 years.

    Len was a veteran of the Second World War. He enlisted in Victoria BC in January 1941 and received his basic training there.  He was assigned to the Royal Canadian Engineers and went to England with the 5th Canadian Armoured Division Engineers. Badly wounded in May 1944 in Italy on the Hitler Line, he was sent to England for recuperation. Len then came home to Canada in September 1944 aboard the hospital ship Princess Margaret and was discharged in December 1944 in Calgary.

    A funeral service will be held at the Marwayne Alliance Church on 4 February with interment following at the Marwayne Cemetery.  Donations may be made to the Lloydminster Regional Hospital Foundation, Lloydminster SK or a charity of one’s choice.
