Spr John Coventry Brown (Ret'd)

    We regret to advise of the death of Sapper John Coventry Brown (Ret'd) in Glace Bay Health Care Complex in Glace Bay, NS on 4 March 2003 at the age of 80 years.

    John was born in Glace Bay and was a resident of Ben Eoin, NS.  He enlisted in 1941 and served in the Second World War overseas with the 6th Field Company, Royal Canadian Engineers. He landed in France on D-Day. 

    After demobilisation, being a carpenter by trade, he returned to carpentry, eventually gaining employment as a carpenter with the Department of National Defence at the Canadian Forces Station Sydney NS.  John was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Legion John Croak VC Memorial Branch #3 in Glace Bay.   He was a member of St. Anne's Parish in Glace Bay as well as St. Mary's Parish in Big Pond, NS.

    Visitation will take place on 9 March from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 PM at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 0n 10 March at 10:00 AM at St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay.  Interment in the parish cemetery at a later date.  Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. {gdMar2017dc} [zpp]
