Spr Harry Ruskin (Ret’d)

We regret to advise the death of Sapper Harry Ruskin (Ret’d) on 30 August 2009 at the Misericordia Health Centre in Winnipeg, MB at the age of 94 years.
Harry was born in Rorketon, MB. At the age of 17, he moved to Kenora, ON and worked in a pulp and paper mill until 1939. He joined the Canadian Army in 1940. He was assigned to the Royal Canadian Engineers and trained in Portage la Prairie, MB; Dundurn, SK; Winnipeg, MB and Chilliwack, BC. Harry went overseas in 1941 and served as a Sapper with the 13th Field Company in the 1st Canadian Corps Engineers and saw action in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, and Holland. He was discharged in 1946 and moved to Winnipeg where he worked for Canada Packers for seven years and then at the Canadian National Railways Workshops as a Carman for 33 years until he retired in 1980.
A funeral service will be held on 3 September at the Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg at 11:00 AM with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. {dcNov2017gd}
