Spr Ernest Fred "Ernie" Hubbard (Ret'd)

We regret to advise of the death of Sapper Ernest Fred “Ernie” Hubbard (Ret’d) of Kamloops BC on September 18, 2018 at 95 years of age.
Ernie was born in Revelstoke BC and raised in Clanwilliam BC, a hamlet seven miles east of Revelstoke on the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) line. He started work with the CPR in July 1941 but enlisted in the Royal Canadian Engineers in November 1942 and served as a Sapper in Britain, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany until he was honourably discharged in February 1946.
Ernie went back to work with the CPR after the war and relocated to Kamloops to raise a family after he married.He retired as a locomotive engineer in June 1983 after completing his last trip from Boston Bar to Kamloops. Ernie was a member of the Kamloops Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion.
A Funeral Mass will be held in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Tranquille Road, Kamloops, at 1:00 PM on 1 October. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Should friends desire, donations to the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation would be appreciated in his memory.
