    We regret to advise that Donald Rodney (Rod) Sheets of Logan Lake, B.C. passed away peacefully at Kamloops on 1 April at the age of 73 years.

    Rod was born in Cornwall, ON. He joined the Army as a young man with the Sapper Apprentice 4th Intake in June 1955. He was with the Royal Canadian Engineers for only five years but in that short time completed a 6-month tour with the United Nations Emergency Force in the Middle East as well as deploying to Nevada, USA, and Australia. After retirement in September 1960 he maintained his lifelong Sapper friendships by regularly attending the Retired Sapper Reunions.

    After retirement he studied to be a United Church Minister and moved all over the country before settling in Merritt, BC, as a Social Worker. After that career he started working at Highland Valley Copper. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, 10 April 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Logan Lake Christian Fellowship Church.
