Sgt Roger Comeau, CD (Ret`d)

We regret to advise of the death of Firefighter Sergeant Roger Comeau, CD (Ret`d) of Aldouane, NB at the Rexton Lions Nursing Home, in Rexton NB on 29 November 2012 at age 85.
Born in Aldouane NB, Roger attended St. Louis de Gonzague Roman Catholic Church in Richibucto. In 1950 he enlisted in the Canadian Army Special Force that was being formed to fight in the Korean War. Roger served in Korea as a Lance Corporal with the 57th Independent Field Squadron, Royal Canadian Engineers. After the war he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) as a Firefighter where, among his postings, he was an instructor in the RCAF Fire School at Camp Borden ON in the early 1960s and later at the Fire Department at RCAF Station Chatham NB.
Roger served for 21 years before retiring in 1972 at the rank of Sergeant. In retirement, he returned home and worked as a carpenter for Kent Homes and as a guard at Kouchibouguac National Park. Roger purchased a fishing boat "Marie Maria" and fished until he fully retired. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 30, Richibucto NB.
Visitation will be at Thompson`s Funeral Home in Richibucto on 2 December from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and on Monday from noon until the time of the funeral. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, 3 December at 2:00 pm at Thompson's Funeral Home Chapel in Richibucto.
