Sergeant Déziel joined the Canadian Armed Forces in February 1993. After completing recruit training at Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School (CFLRS) in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, he was transferred to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (CFSME) in Chilliwack, B.C., to complete Combat Engineer training.
In September 1993, following his training as a Combat Engineer, he was transferred to 5 Combat Engineer Regiment (5 CER) in Valcartier. In April 1995, he deployed for the first time, to Croatia. In 1998, he participated in his first domestic operation, Op Recovery, following the ice storm. In August 1999, Sgt Déziel deployed with the DART to Turkey on Op Torrent. From June 2006 to July 2011, he was transferred to CFLRS in St-Jean-surRichelieu as an instructor. During this time, Sgt Déziel was promoted to sergeant. Back in Valcartier at 5 CER, he was employed as a recce sergeant. In July 2015, he transferred to the 2 Canadian Division Training Center (2 CAN DIV TC) for two years.
Upon returning to 5 CER in 2017, he negotiated with CWO Godbout, the Chief Warrant Officer at the time, for the position of Sgt D'Armes. He held this position until the end of his career.
Sgt Déziel retired on 02 August 2022, after 29 years and 175 days with the Canadian Armed Forces. He accepted a job in the private sector in Sainte-Marie de Beauce. Sgt Déziel recently married Carolyne Lefebvre and has 7 beautiful boys and several daughters-in-law. Don't worry about it, there's only one left at home. �
