Sgt Richard Gaumond, CD

Sgt Gaumond’s military career started in Québec City on the 24th of June 1980 where he enrolled as an infanteer in the reserve with the Voltigeurs de Québec and in 1986 he transferred to the 3e R22R and re-mustered to Fire Fighter in 1991. It took him awhile to see the light.
As a member of the Voltigeurs de Québec he had the chance to perform different duties in different countries, Larh, Germany and a UN tour in Cyprus in 1985. In 1986 he transferred to the 3eR22R in Valcartier where he served for the next 5 years, during that time he was involved in all major exercises like Brave Lion in Norway and the OKA crisis in Québec for 8 months. In 1991 he remustered to Firefighter, his first posting was CFB Greenwood for the next 6 years during that time he had the chance to be involved in a firefighter exchange in Arizona where he put his work skills in 2 different fire halls in Tuson . In 1997 Time for shipboard duties on HMCS Preserver. 1998 posted after 1 year on ship to CFB Shearwater for a year. 1999 he was back again on the ships to the SPL section during that time he had the chance to sail on all the ships on that side of the cost, he was also deployed on a Nato exercise on the Preserver for a drug enforcement in the Carabian. In 2003 he was posted to CFB Bagotville. His retirement date is on the 13th of November 2008 after 28 plus years of loyal and dedicated service.
Richard, his wife Suzanne and children, Jessica and Maxime, will be staying in the Saguenay area where he will start his new career as a part time reserve in the firefighter branch.
