Sgt Matthew Pulleyblank, CD

     1. AFTER 19.9 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CANADIAN FORCES, SGT MATT PULLEYBLANK RETIRED FROM THE CF ON THE 13TH OF DECEMBER 2010.

    2. SGT MATT PULLEYBLANK HAD A LONG AND DISTINGUISHED CAREER IN THE CF BEGINNING IN 1991 AS AN ARMOURED CREWMAN SERVING WITH THE LORD STRATHCONAS HORSE (ROYAL CANADIANS). THERE HE SERVED IN A SQN, CSS, RECCE AND RHQ SQNS EMPLOYED AS A COUGAR DVR, TUA DVR/GNR, ASSAULT PIONEER,RECCE CREWMAN,CO’S LAV DVR/REGT INT OP RESPECTIVELY. AS A CREWMAN, HE SERVED WITH THE REGIMENT ON TOUR IN BOSNIA (UNPROFOR)1994 AND BOSNIA (SFOR) 1997-98. IN 2001, MATT REMUSTERD TO 142 GEOMATICS TECHNICIAN AND WAS POSTED TO THE MAPPING AND CHARTING ESTABLISHMENT(MCE) IN OTTAWA. AFTER HIS MOVE TO GEOMATICS, HE HONED HIS CRAFT AS A GEODETIC SURVEYOR AND ATTENDED THE COLLEGE OF GEOGRAPHIC SCIENCES (COGS) WHERE HE EARNED A TECHNOLOGIST’S DIPLOMA WITH HONOURS. UPON RETURNING TO MCE FROM COGS, MATT PLAYED A MAJOR ROLE IN THE CREATION AND DEPLOYMENT OF THE CF DIGITAL AERIAL MAPPING CAPABILITY. HE FINISHED HIS CAREER AS THE QL5A COURSE GEODESY, GPS AND MATH INSTRUCTOR AT THE SCHOOL OF MILITARY MAPPING, ALGONQUIN COLLEGE.

    3. MATT HAS ACCEPTED A GEOMATICS POSITION WORKING FOR THE PUBLIC SERVICE IN OTTAWA AT MCE AND WILL RESIDE IN THE STITTSVILLE AREA WHERE HE AND HIS FAMILY WILL ENJOY THE NEXT PHASE OF HIS CAREER. HE IS PLANNING TO ENJOY SOME TIME AT HOME WITH HIS WIFE STEPHANIE, HIS TWO BOYS JACOB AND NOAH, AND THEIR NEW BABY DAUGHTER SCARLETT.

    4. IN HIS HONOUR, THERE WILL BE A RETIREMENT FUNCTION HELD ON FRIDAY, 29 APRIL 2011 AT THE HEART AND CROWN ON PRESTON ST AT 1100 HRS.
