Sgt Mark Stanton, CD (Ret'd)

We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Mark Stanton, CD (Ret'd), peacefully, on 23 January 2018 in Ottawa, ON at the age of 58.
An Ottawa native, Mark started his career with the Canadian Armed Forces in 1976 as a Reservist with the 30th Field Artillery Regiment, RCA, from 1976-1984. During this period he deployed to Bosnia. Mark then joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1984 and was stationed for five years at Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake, AB, where he worked on CF18s. Seeking a change, Mark transferred to the Canadian Military Engineers as a Topographical Surveyor and Geomatics Technician with Mapping and Charting Establishment (MCE) in Ottawa. He deployed on Op APOLLO in 2002 to Kandahar, Afghanistan with the first sizable contingent of Special Forces. Mark received the Golden Jubilee Medal that same year.
Mark retired from the Canadian Forces in 2005 and joined the Federal Public Service to continue working as a geo-analyst with MCE as an EG2, then as an EG4.
Friends and family are invited to a service and reception to celebrate Mark's life on Wednesday, 31 January 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at St Peter's Lutheran Church, 400 Sparks Street, Ottawa {limited parking}. A private interment will follow in the Spring.
