Sgt L.W.J. Dyk, CD

    After more than 18 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, Sgt Lucas Dyk, CD, will retire on 26 June 2023. Anecdotes and retirement wishes may be sent to Sgt S. Narayan at Sajiel.Narayan@forces.gc.ca.


    Sergeant Lucas Dyk joined the Primary Reserve in 2005 as an Armoured Crewman through a high school co-op program with the Ontario Regiment (RCAC). After graduating from the three-year Ecosystems Management Technology program at Fleming College, he transferred to the Regular Force as an Armoured Crewman in 2008. Lucas was posted to the Lord Strathcona's Horse (RoyalCanadians), deploying with A Sqn to Afghanistan in 2010 as part of TF 1-10 and to the 2011 Manitoba Floods under Op LENTUS.

    After discovering the Geomatics Technician trade, Lucas transferred to the occupation in 2012. Following the two-year trades training program at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Lucas was posted to Mapping and Charting Establishment in 2014. Upon promotion to Master Corporal in 2016, he was posted to the 1st Canadian Division HQ in Kingston, ON, as the J2 Geomatics Support Team 2IC. On promotion to Sergeant in 2020, Lucas was posted to the Canadian Joint Operations Command HQ in Ottawa as the J2 Geomatics Support Team Leader. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Geography in 2021.

    Lucas has accepted a position in the Public Service and will remain in the Ottawa area with his spouse, Stephanie.
