Sgt Luc Hopkins, CD

    Sgt L. J.Hopkins (Luc) was born on the15th of September 1965 in Chapeau QC. He enrolled in the CF on the 23rd of April 1986, and completed his recruit training at CFRS ST JEAN QC in July 1986. He was then posted to the C.F. School of Military Engineers in Chilliwack BC.

    In March 1988 upon completion of his basic trades training, Sgt Hopkins was posted to 1 CER Chilliwack and remained with the unit until his posting to 4 CER in Lahr Germany in Aug 1989. He was promoted to Cpl May 1990.

    In April 1993 with the closeout of CFB Lahr Sgt Hopkins was posted to 2 CER in CFB Petawawa On. and remained in Petawawa until his posting to ST. Thomas ON in July 1997. He was employed as a stores man during the change over of The Elgin Regiment (RCAC) to 31 CER. In January 2000 he was promoted to MCpl.

    In July 2002 Sgt Hopkins was posted to 1 CER in Edmonton AB and in Oct 2002 deployed to Bosnia as a section 2 IC. He was promoted Sgt July 2004 and employed as section commander in the regiment.

    In September 2006 Sgt Hopkins was posted to Range Control CFB Borden as a patroller and Chief Instructor for the Range Safety Officer Course.

    Sgt Hopkins is retiring from the Regular Force on 30th June 2008 and has plans to start new employment as a reservist.

    Sgt Hopkins has 2 children, Daniel and Emily.

    A casual Retirement BBQ will be held in Luc’s honour at CFB Borden Rod & Gun Club 13 June 2008 at 1300 hrs. The cost is estimated at 10.00 per person. All ranks are welcome to attend.
