Sgt Jamie McKinley, CD will retire from the Canadian Armed Forces on 08 Apr 2018, after 20 years of loyal and dedicated service to the CAF and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch (please see bio attached). Sgt McKinley enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in Thunder Bay Ontario in April 1998. After completing his basic infantry course in Wainwright Alta in Oct 1998, he was then posted to 2 PPCLI in Winnipeg where he remained until he remustered to Construction Tech in 2004. This journey would then take him to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Gagetown NB. Once he completed his QL3 in 2005, he was then posted to CFB Gagetown 4 ESR to complete his OJT. In 2009, Sgt McKinley went back to CFSME to do his QL5 Journeyman course. After completion, he was then posted to CFB Shilo until his next posting. In 2012 Cpl McKinley was promoted to MCpl then posted to 19 Wing Comox to work with 191 CEF. With only a 3 year posting to the hidden gem of Canada, MCpl McKinley would be posted and promoted to his current rank to CFB Winnipeg. With only a 2 year stint in Winnipeg, Sgt McKinley was posted to 1 CER in Edmonton to finish his career with 9 months to go.
During Sgt McKinley’s career in the Canadian Armed Forces, he has deployed on 4 operational tours. He went to Bosnia in 2000-2001, Afghanistan in 2002 and 2007 and Egypt in 2016-2017. He received the 3 PPCLI Unit Citation in 2002.
After 20 years of loyal and dedicated service to his country, he has decided to retire from the Canadian Armed Forces on 07 Apr 2018. Sgt McKinley is moving back to Winnipeg with his wife Jacki of 14 years and his 2 young daughters Stella 5 and Madelyn 3. He is planning on joining the reserves and working at CE in Winnipeg
