    After more than 16 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, Sgt Penney, CD, will retire on 30 September 2022. Anecdotes and retirement wishes may be sent to WO M.E. Patten at Michael.Patten@forces.gc.ca.


    Born in Gander, Newfoundland, Sgt Penney enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in May 2006. After completing BMQ training at CFB Borden and QL3 training at CFSME in Gagetown, Sgt Penney returned to 91 Construction Engineering Flight (CEF) at 9 Wing Gander.

    Over the course of the next few years, Sgt Penney was involved with JTF Games 2010, deployed with JTF Afghanistan on a Technical Assistance Visit in 2010, participated in OP NANOOK in 2011, and conducted another TAV to Lithuania in 2014 in support of OP REASSURANCE. Sgt Penney returned to CFSME in January 2012 to attend the QL5 course and again in 2015 to attend QL6A. Upon completion of these courses, he returned to 91 CEF to supervise junior EGS Techs and to assist with multiple projects in the community.

    After more than 16 years of service, Sgt Penney will retire from the CAF on 30 Sep 2022 and has accepted a position with Real Property Operations Detachment Gander
