Sgt Jean-Marie Joseph Adrien Lussier, CD (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Jean-Marie Joseph Adrien Lussier, CD (Ret’d) peacefully on Saturday, 1 October 2022 at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in British Columbia at age 68 years.
Born in St-Barnabé-Sud QC, Jean-Marie was raised on a dairy farm with his two sisters. He enlisted in the Canadian Forces in 1975 and joined the Canadian Military Engineers as a Combat Engineer. During his career, he travelled the world including many points in Canada and overseas. His postings moved him between Valcartier QC, Petawawa ON, where he was part of the Airborne Regiment, to Trail BC, Chilliwack BC, Lahr, West Germany, back to Canada to Valcartier and with his final posting being in Chilliwack. Jean Marie deployed to Cambodia as a UN Peacekeeper for six months In the mid-90s.
Jean Marie retired from the Canadian Forces in 1998 and promptly joined 44th Field Squadron in Trail. Not one to stay idle, he started working at Red Mountain as a ski instructor, sharing his passion for skiing with the majority of Rossland’s children for over 20 years. In addition to his time at the mountain, Jean Marie was also a security guard for Safety Net, Membership Chair for the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 14 and did maintenance for Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rossland. After retirement, Jean Marie and his wife enjoyed travelling around the globe, especially driving all over North America countless times with their dogs in tow. An avid outdoorsman, he loved to spend his time hiking the mountains around his home and huckleberry picking in the summers.
A Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at 10:30 am on Saturday, 8 October 2022, at 10:30 am, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 14 in Rossland.
