Sgt Ed Blaney, CD

Sgt Blaney will be retiring after 20 plus years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Forces.
Sgt Blaney joined the CF in Vancouver 14 Jan 1988. Upon completion of recruit training at CFB Cornwallis Ed proceeded to the CF Language School in St Jean prior to starting his QL 3 Fire Fighter course in Sept 1988. After his QL 3 course Ed was posted to CFB Comox. In June 1991 Ed was course loaded for his QL 5 course. After completing another 2 years in Comox Ed proceeded down Island to Esquimalt where he was posted to numerous positions and HMCS Regina. In Jul 1996 Ed was posted to CFB Moose Jaw. After a short 3 year tour in Moose Jaw Ed was posted back to Comox in Aug 1999. Ed managed to stay in Comox for an amazing 4 ½ years this time before being posted to 4 Wing Cold Lake where he stayed until he was posted back to Esquimalt, HMCS Ottawa in the summer of 2007.
Ed completed his Junior leaders course in Jun 2005 and Fire Prevention and Life Safety Inspector course in Mar 2006. He was deployed to TF Afghanistan TSE in 2006.
He was promoted to MCpl in Sept 2002 and then to Sgt in Jan 2006.
Ed, Sandra, Cameron, Meghan, and Cole will remain in the Greater Victoria area. Ed will be completing his career in the CF on 08 May 08 and has taken a position as a Fire Inspector with the Dockyard Fire Dept.
