Sgt Dominic Gosselin, CD
Effective 13 August 2011, Sgt Dominic Gosselin will retire after 20 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Forces and the Combat Engineer Trade.
Sgt Gosselin joined the Canadian Forces 13 August 1991 in Trois-Rivieres QC as a Naval Electronics Sensor Operator. In April 1993 Sgt Gosselin decided the Navy was not the life he wanted and remustered to a Combat Engineer. He was posted to CFB/BFC Valcartier 5 Regiment Genie Combat (RGC) in September 1993. Sgt Gosselin participated in several overseas missions while employed in CFB/BFC Valcartier. Two tours to Bosnia in 1995 and 2000, two tours to Haiti in 1996 and 2010, two tours to Afghanistan in 2004 and 2009. He also assisted with the Ice Storm in 1998. Sgt Gosselin spent three years with Centre Instruction Secteur Quebec Force Terrestre (CISQFT) from 2005-2008 and then back to 5 RGC until his current posting to CFB Shilo in 2010 as the Heavy Equipment Supervisor for the Special Purpose Vehicle Section.
Dominic will be retiring in Victoriaville Quebec, with his wife Cathy and four children Mathieu, Antoine, Jeremy, and Lauryane. His future plans include spending some well deserved quality time with his family. He has been entertaining offers from a local trucking company and the city of Victoriaville.
To celebrate his retirement, a BBQ luncheon will take place on 27 May 2011 at Base Transportation CFB/ASU Shilo.
