    After more than 18 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, Sgt B.A. McCauley, CD, (00339) will retire on 1 April 2025.     Sgt McCauley joined the CAF as a Primary Reservist with the 33 Field Engineer Squadron in 41 Canadian Brigade Group on September 6th, 2006. During his time at 33 FES, Sgt McCauley started out as a Sapper within the Field Troop. He then took on a Class B contract as the Squadron Quarter Master Storeman for 33 FES in 2008. In 2010, Sgt McCauley was posted to 41 CBG HQ and was responsible for all Class B contracts and hiring process within 41 CBG out of the G1 shop. After 6 months, Sgt McCauley was then moved over to the G8 shop as the FMAS Clerk where he developed a finance tracking model to standardize the entire Brigade.

    In Feb 2013, Sgt McCauley component transferred to the Regular Force and was posted to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment, 12 Armored Troop, Section 2 IC and Crew Commander. Sgt McCauley then became the Regimental Ammo NCO in Oct 2014. In July 2015, he was posted to the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre where he started out as a Section Commander in what was then known as the Contemporary Operating Environment Forces (COEFOR). After a year, Sgt McCauley became the Troop Warrant for COEFOR.

    During his time within COEFOR, Sgt McCauley gained the advanced certification of Collateral Damage Estimator at NATO HQ in Oberammergau, Germany and the Battle Staff NCO certification from the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy (USASMA) at Ft Bliss in El Paso, Texas. Sgt McCauley was also awarded the 39 CBG Commander’s Commendation for acting as the Officer Commanding COEFOR where he commanded a company size element and engaged early to assist and mentor the planning team in Master Events List and scenario development during the 39 CBG Exercise Cougar Conqueror in 2016. Sgt McCauley also received the CMTC Commander’s Commendation award while employed as the COEFOR WO where he commanded a company size element on exercise, was employed as the platoon commander for an extended period and successfully coordinated night operations for the enemy force during the Canadian Patrol Competition (CPC) in 2016.

    In 2017, Sgt McCauley was then transferred to CMTC HQ as the G3 Training NCO and assumed the role of Unit General Safety Officer 2 IC. Sgt McCauley deployed on OP REASSURANCE in Feb 2018 and acted as the Fires Control Operator in EXCON. Sgt McCauley acted as the COEFOR Tp WO during Ex CPC 18 and then acted as the Exercise Control Duty Officer for Ex MAPLE RESOLVE (MR) 19.

    In 2020, Sgt McCauley was then moved to the G5 Plans Team where he aided the development of Ex MRs 21 and 22 and acted as the Information Management Officer (IMO) 2 IC during Ex MR 21 and as the IMO during Ex MR 22. Sgt McCauley then assumed the role as the CMTC IMO where he developed and executed the plan to transition CMTC from ACIMS to the Microsoft 365 Cloud Environment. Sgt McCauley also worked closely with Army IM to help develop key virtual infrastructure within Microsoft 365 which was to be implemented within the Army.
