Sgt Anthony “Tony” Calvert (Ret’d)

We regret to advise of the death of Sergeant Anthony “Tony” Calvert (Ret’d) suddenly on 22 January 2010 at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital in Ottawa, ON in his 66th year.
Tony was born in 1944 in Southampton, United Kingdom, immigrated to Canada in his youth and became a Canadian citizen in October 1960. He enlisted in the Canadian Forces as a Field Engineer in Toronto, ON in October 1963 and after completing his basic Sapper training was posted to 3 Field Squadron, in Chilliwack, BC.
In 1969 Tony remustered to a Map Reproduction Technician and was posted to the Mapping and Charting Establishment in Ottawa. In August 1980 he was posted to the Director General Intelligence where he spent the next 13 years in the Joint Photo Intelligence Centre until his retirement on 30 September 1993 as a Sergeant. Tony was an enthusiastic Ham radio operator and for many years ran a successful photography business in his spare time.
Visitations will be at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue, Ottawa, ON on 2 and 3 February. A Service will follow the 3 February visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the Guillain-Barre Syndrome Foundation of Canada. {gdSep2015kh}
