We regret to advise of the death of Corporal Owen "Dave" Harris CD (Ret'd) at age 67 on 22 November 2021 at home in Pembroke, ON .

Dave was from Beamsville ON and joined the Canadian Forces as a Field Engineer. After his basic training at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack BC, his first posting was with 1 Field Squadron in Petawawa ON. From there he proceeded to 1 Airborne Field Squadron where a highlight was participating in Op GAMES CAN (the 1976 Olympics). Dave returned to Petawawa to 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in 1977 but remustered to the Plumber Gasfitter trade in 1979. After training in CFSME, he was subsequently posted to Canadian Forces Base Halifax. While in Halifax, Dave decided to retire from the Canadian Forces. He subsequently joined DND as a Public Servant in 1987 as a Safety Officer and ended up in this career as the Base General Safety Officer of CFB Petawawa from where he retired in Dec 2020.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Dave with his family during visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke on Friday, 26 November from  2-4:00 and 7-9:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday 27 November 27 at 11:00 a.m. followed by cremation.  The funeral will be live streamed and recorded. See LINK at the bottom of this page.
