MWO/Adjum Pierre Laforce, CD

    Master Warrant Officer Pierre Laforce is from Drummondville, Quebec. He joined the Canadian Forces on 4 January 1975 and underwent recruit training at CFB Saint-Jean P.Q followed by two month second language training in Borden. He was then attached posted for 6 months at CFS Baldy Hughes (BC) for OJT training in his trade as Refrigeration and Mechanic technician. In January 1976, MWO Pierre Laforce was posted to CFB Chilliwack (BC) where he completed his TQ3.

    In June 1976 he was posted to CFS Ste-Margaret’s (NB). In December the same year, he released from the CF. He then worked with his father for 11 months with the intention of taking over the family business. He soon realized that he preferred the life in the CF and upon rejoining in December 1977 was posted to CFS Lowther (ON) .

    In June 1979 he was posted to Wainwright (AB) to be in charge of the RM shop. In 1981 spring, he is promoted to MCpl and transferred to CFS Gander (NL) as 2 i/c of the RM shop.

    In 1983, Pierre was promoted to Sgt and transferred to CFS Mont-Apica (QC) to take charge of the RM shop. In 1985, another transfer brings him to CFB Valcartier (QC) He worked as Assistant Mechanical Estimator for three years and in his last year out he took charge of the RM shop. In 1989, he was promoted to WO and moved CFB Chatham (NB) where he worked as the Chief Estimator.

    In 1991, he relocated to CFB Lonque-Pointe Montreal (QC) and for the next six years he worked in the position of the Utilities Officer. He was promoted to his current rank in the spring of 1997 and sent to NATO Military HQ (SHAPE Belgium) where he was in charge of the Mechanical shops.

    MWO Laforce returned to Canada after three short years to be posted to CFB Petawawa in 2000 where he was employed alternatively as Shop Supervisor, Spec Writer and Planning Officer. During that period, time he was deployed to the Golan Heights (on the Syrian side) for 6 ½ months where he worked as Contract Inspector.

    In August 2005 he was transferred to CFB Valcartier (QC) to be employed as Public Works Officer and Contract Officer. In the summer 2007, he was relocated to 14 Wing Greenwood.

    During his career, Pierre participated in several golf and curling regional competitions. He was also a member of the Canadian Golf team CISM for many years. Many of you may have come across him at either the Pig Spiel, which he won a couple of years, or at the annual Engineer golf tournament, which he also won a few times. Pierre was also very active in organising many Charity golf tournaments, raising more than $40,000.00 over the past few years.

    In the near future, Pierre Laforce will start a second career as a civilian employee for NATO HQ in (SHAPE, Belgium) where he has been offered a position as Assistant Facility Manager (mechanical).

    Pierre is married to Marie-Hélène Bouchard and together, they have three children: Grégoire, Joliane and Pierre-Olivier. His main place of residence will remain Aylesford NS, until the couple make a final decision on where they will hang their hats.
