After more than 34 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers, MWO Mitch Booker, CD, will retire on 15 September 2023. MWO Mitch Booker was born in Huddersfield, England, and enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as a Combat Engineer in Vancouver on 14 Sep 1989. Following Basic Training in Cornwallis, NS, and trades training in Chilliwack, BC, he was posted to 2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa, ON. In 1993, he was posted to the Canadian Airborne Regiment until 1995, when he was posted back to 2 CER. In 1999, MWO Booker was posted to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment in Edmonton, AB. While in Alberta, he was posted to Bde HQ as the G3 Ammo from 2012 to 2014 and to Cold Lake as the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range Sergeant Major from 2016 to 2018. In 2018, MWO Booker returned home to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment to be employed as the Squadron Sergeant-Major of 15 Sp Sqn, 17 Arm’d Sqn, 18 Admin Sqn, and the QMSI.
MWO Booker has multiple domestic deployments and eight international deployments: Iraq / Kuwait in 1991 as a section driver; Bosnia in 1996 as a section member then water supply operator; Bosnia in 1998 as the Water Supply Section Commander; Honduras in 1998 as a water supply 2I/C; Bosnia in 2002 as a section 2I/C; Bosnia in 2003 as a section commander; Afghanistan in 2006 as a recce Sgt; and Ukraine in 2019/20 as the Engineer Training Group Sergeant-Major.
The highlight of MWO Booker’s career was the opportunity to participate in a parachute descent into Normandy as part of the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.
MWO Booker was promoted to his current rank in July 2016 and is presently employed as the QMSI in RHQ.
MWO Booker is married to April, and they have three children.
