MWO Martin Cloutier, CD will be retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces after 35 years of dedicated service to the CAF and the CME Branch. Friends and colleagues are welcome to attend the depart with dignity luncheon which will take place at the CFB Bagotville WOs & Sgts' Mess on the 16th of April 2015, 1200 hrs. Lunch will be available at a cost to be determined (approx. $20.00 per person). MWO Cloutier enrolled in the Canadian Forces on 4 September, 1978 as a Weapons UnderWater technician. After basic training he completed a three month language course in St-Jean, followed by another three month course at Windsor Park in Halifax. On completion of language training he started his QL3 in CFB Halifax and was then posted to the HMCS Skeena. He released from the forces after two years of service to return to school and work in Alberta as a Steel Building Erector. Finally, after 2 ½ years of civilian life, he decided to return to the forces as a Naval Weapons Tech. During his time as a Naval Weapons tech he served on the HMCS Skeena, HMCS Algonquin, and the HMCS Margaree. He also completed three NATO missions. In 1988 he was appointed to the rank of Master Seaman. In 1991 he was posted to CFB St-Jean as a platoon Cdr at the language school. In 1992 MWO Cloutier decided it was time for a new adventure. He remustered to RM tech. After doing some OJT in St-Jean, he left for Chilliwack to complete his RM QL3. Upon completion of his QL3 he was posted to 5 RGC Valcartier where he spent five years. After his RM QL5 he was posted to CE at CFB Bagotville. Following a six month tour in the Golan Heights he was appointed to the rank of Master Corporal. In the summer of 2004 he completed a tour in CFS Alert as the B Cool O. After spending four years at CE he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and posted to the 12 Radar Station Lac Castor. After 3 ½ years at 12 Radar he was promoted to Warrant Officer and posted to CFSME Gagetown as the RM Cell WO. In 2010 he was posted back to CFB Bagotville as the contracts supervisor. In 2012 he was promoted to the rank of MWO. In the summer of 2014 he was posted to 2 Wing as the SWO of MSE, where he remains today. On his retirement MWO Cloutier will move his mobile home from the PMQs to the beautiful city of Ferland –Boileau. He plans to enjoy life while still finding time to do a little bit of RM work on the side.
