    Master Warrant Officer Daniel J. Hodd will retire from the CAF on 15 January 2021 after 30 plus years of loyal and dedicated service to Canada, the Canadian Armed Forces, and the Royal Canadian Engineers. At Dan’s request, friends and colleagues are welcome to attend his Depart with Dignity presentation function which will take place on the 15 January 2021 at 1300 hrs at the Oromocto Legion.     Dan was born in Saint John NB on 23 January 1968. He enrolled in Saint John N.B in 1990 as a Combat Engineer. After he completed basic training in Cornwallis NS, he attended his QL3 in Chilliwack BC. His first posting was to 22 Fd Sqn, (later renamed 4 ESR) in CFB Gagetown in June of 1991, where he remained until 2003. During those years he completed deployments to Bosnia, Rwanda, Haiti and Eretria/Ethiopia. He was then posted to the Base Language School and successfully completed a yearlong French Course. In 2004 Dan was posted to CFSME, where he instructed students on the maintenance and operation of Heavy Equipment. In 2006 he was posted to the DART Warehouse in Trenton where he maintained operational readiness of the Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Units (ROWPU). Dan was then posted to 2 CER serving from 2008 – 2012 completing his baseline Sgt requirements as well as a deployment to Afghanistan TF-10. After 2 CER he was posted back to 4 ESR where he was promoted to WO, remaining there for another three years. During that time he completed a DART deployment to the Philippines in relief of Hurricane Yuan. Subsequently Dan was posted back to CFSME filling various Sqn Operations positions until 2018, when he was promoted to MWO and was posted back to the 4 ESR. While there he filled the positions of Squadron Sargent Major for the headquarters element and the Counter IED Sqn. Finally in July of 2020 he was posted back to CFSME to finish out his career as the Mine Warfare Demolitions TP Supervisor. Dan and his wife Shelly have two children, Benjamin and Nicholas.
