    After more than 26 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineers Branch, MWO Cory Kavanagh, MMM, CD retired on 08 June 2022. A DwD will be held on 17 November 2022 at 1400 hours at the 5 CDSG Garrison St. Johns at the Senior NCO & Officers’ Mess, 115 The Blvd, St. Johns, NL.     Master Warrant Officer Cory Kavanagh enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in November 1995 as a Combat Engineer. Throughout his career, he served on multiple deployments, both foreign and domestic, including OP ASSISTANCE (Winnipeg, 1997), OP RECUPERATION (Quebec, 1998), OP PALLADIUM (Bosnia, 1999), OP ECLIPSE (Eritrea, 2001), OP HAMLET (Haiti, 2004), OP LENTUS (Calgary, 2013), OP LENTUS (Newfoundland, 2020), and OP LASER (Newfoundland, 2021).

    MWO Kavanagh served with 4 Engineer Support Regiment, (NB, 1996-2005), Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering, (NB, 2006-2011), 1 Combat Engineer Regiment, (AB, 2011-2014), 37 Combat Engineer Regiment, (NL, 2014-2017), Canadian Army Trials and Evaluations Unit, (NB, 2017-2018), and 5 CDSG Garrison St. John’s (NL, 2018-2022). MWO Kavanagh is a member of the Order of Military Merit.

    MWO Kavanagh volunteered for many organizations throughout his career, including the Children’s Wish Foundation (2007), the Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ Club within the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering as President (2009-2011), the Canadian Military Engineer Association Edmonton Chapter as the Regimental representative for 1 CER (2012-2013), and the Canadian Military Engineer Association St. John’s Chapter as President (2015-2017). Cory also served twice on the Project Management Institute NL Chapter Board as the Director of Professional Development and Director of Memberships.

    MWO Kavanagh retired from the CAF on 08 June 2022. He and his wife, Zoe, have remained in  St John’s as he begins a new career as a public servant.
