We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer Stephen Gittings, CD (Ret’d) on 15 June 2021 in St Thomas ON at age 74 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. 

Stephen was born in Paignton, Devon, England and immigrated to Thorold Ontario in his early childhood. He joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1963 at age 16 as a Sapper Apprentice with the 12^th Intake. He graduated from the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering in 1965 as both a Field Engineer and Carpenter Group 1.  Steven continued in his Engineer Career as a Construction Maintenance Technician with postings that included a United Nations tour in Egypt, Petawawa ON, Jericho Beach Vancouver BC and London ON. After a 33-year career with the Canadian Military Engineers, Stephen retired as Master Warrant Officer in 1996 to live in St Thomas.

In keeping with Stephen's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. If desired, donations to a charity of one's choice in Stephen’s name would be appreciated.  Personal condolences to the family can be made at  funeral home.
