    We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer Ross Aubrey Merrill, CD (Ret’d) at Parkland Fredericton Retirement Living Community, Fredericton NB, on 24 February 2014 at the age of 83.

    Ross was born in Tay Creek NB but moved to DeWolfe Corner NB where he lived until the age of 16. At this point, he moved to British Columbia to find employment in the logging industry where he worked for the next four years before returning home to New Brunswick. In 1951, he decided to join the Canadian Army as a field engineer in the Royal Canadian Engineers. For the next 26 years, Ross served in Chilliwack, 1 Field Squadron, Petawawa ON and 4 Field Squadron, Germany before taking retirement in 1977 and moving back to New Brunswick. A large and strong man, Ross set various military track and field records in the shot-put and javelin. After his retirement, through the1980s, Ross worked for the New Brunswick Forestry Department supporting private woodlot owners.

    Visitations will be at the S.O. Mehan & Son Funeral Home, 23 Main Street, St. Stephen, NB on 8 March. Interment will be at Moores Mills Cemetery, Moores Mills, NB. Donations may be made the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of one's choice. {gdMar2016kh}
