We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer Richard Henry Joseph “Dick” Green, CD (Ret’d), peacefully, on Tuesday, 29 October 2019 in Lindsay, ON at the age of 78 years.
Born in Lindsay, Dick came from a family with many Senior Non- Commissioned Officer veterans of WW to a degree that they were known in town as “The Fighting Greens.” Dick considered that his greatest accomplishment was his 30-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces with the Canadian Military Engineers as a Combat Engineer (1961-1992). His postings included 1 Field Squadron/2 Combat Engineer Regiment in Petawawa ON, 3 Field Squadron in Chilliwack BC, and 4 Field Squadron in Germany. Dick retired from the Canadian Forces in 1992. He was an original member (1957) of the Kawartha Kavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps and returned to them after his retirement.
Visitation will take place at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay on Saturday, 2 November from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service will take place in the chapel on Sunday, 3 November at 3:15 p.m. Legion Members are to assemble at 3:00 p.m. If desired, a memorial donation to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 67 Poppy Fund would be appreciated by the family.
