MWO Norman Samuel "Jingles" Jones, CD (Ret'd)
-
We regret to advise that Master Warrant Office Norman Samuel "Jingles" Jones (aka Burc Haver) died on 12 July 2018 at the age of 91 at Rosewood Village in Trail, BC.
Sam, or Burc as he was more recently know, was the sixth of 10 children born to Margaret and Marquis Jones in Grande Prairie, AB. He spent 31 years in the Royal Canadian Engineers and the Canadian Military Engineers. In his early career, he served in the 57th Field Squadron in Korea and later completed a full career as a Field Engineer in units across Canada including NDHQ in Ottawa. Sam remarried after his first wife died and changed his name to Burc Haver. After leaving the Army, he worked for the years with West Kootenay Power in Kelowna, BC. He and his partner later moved to Trail to be closer to their family. As a widower, Burc moved to Rosewood Village in 2013. Burc remained active and loved to walk and often during winter days do laps around the mall or Walmart until his health failed him.
A small service will be held at a later date to say goodbye to this kind and gentle soul.
