We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer Horst Gunther Meier, CD (Ret’d) at home in Burton, NB at age 81 on 19 March 2018.

Horst joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in Recruit Squadron, Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering in Chilliwack, BC in 1960. He served a long and varied career with the Canadian Military Engineers and took pride in the fact that he was one of the few Sappers who had served in all five of the Regular Force Field Units in Canada and Germany.

Horst was one of the original members of the Atlantic Retired Sappers Association and a strong supporter of the activities of the Association.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, 24 March 2018 from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM at the Oromocto Funeral Home with a Legion tribute taking place at 1:45 PM.   A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM in the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will be held at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, contributions made be made in Horst’s name to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice.
