MWO Greg Wagner, CD

    On the 19 January 2009, Master Warrant Officer Greg Wagner will be retiring after 27 plus years of loyal and dedicated service to the Engineer Branch of the Canadian Armed Forces.

    MWO Greg Wagner was born April 1st, 1957 in Ste-Foy, Quebec and enrolled into the Canadian Armed Forces in Ottawa, Ontario on the 18 September 1981. After completing basic training at Canadian Forces Recruit School Cornwallis, NS, in January of 1982 Pte Wagner completed three months of OJT at Canadian Forces Base (CFB Greenwood). In March of 1982 he was then posted to CFB Chilliwack, BC, where he completed his QL 3 apprentice trades training as an Electrical Generating Systems technician at Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (CFSME).

    On October of 1982 was posted to CFB Trenton, CE EGS shop. After completing his QL 5 journeyman trades training at CFSME he was promoted to Corporal in September 1985, completed two three month tours at CFS Alert, deployed as part of RV/87 Wainwright AB, and in February 1989 completed his JLC qualification before being posted to CFB Chilliwack in June 1989.

    While in Chilliwack Cpl Wagner was employed at the CE EGS Shop for one year, then in August of 1990 then was promoted to the rank of Master Corporal and was also posted to CFSME where he became part of the EGS Instruction staff. During his tenure he completed his QL6A senior trades training course.

    MCpl Wagner was then posted in July of 1994 to CFB Petawawa, ON, 1 Canadian Field Hospital, Services Section. While there he also completed a tour in Bosnia in 1996/97 with CCIFOR Engineering Squadron, deployed as part of Op Recuperation Team (Ice Storm).

    On December of 1998 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and in the summer 1999 was posted to CFB Comox, BC, 191 Air Field Engineering Unit and employed as a Crew Chief. While in CFB Comox he completed another tour of CFS Alert as the Power Plant Supervisor. In March of 2001 he was promoted to the rank of Warrant Officer and was posted to CFB Gagetown, NB, at CFSME as the EGS Instructional Section Supervisor. He completed his QL 6B Superintendent training in March 2001, Senior Leadership Training December 2001, before moving to the CFSME Standards Section in July of 2003. In August of 2004 he was promoted to the rank of Master Warrant Officer and posted back to 8 Wing Trenton, ON.

    MWO Wagner was employed as the CE Contracts Officer and Alert Coordination Officer at 8 Wing Trenton. He also completed another at CFS Alert in 2006 as the Station Sergeant Major (SSM). In January 2008 he became the Flight Sergeant Major of 86 ASU.

    On July 2008, MWO Wagner was posted to CFB/ASU Shilo, MB as the Engineer Services Sergeant Major and also as the Defence Construction Canada Liaison Officer (DCC L/O).

    MWO Wagner will be starting his retirement leave 1 November 2009 in Trenton ON with his wife Ann and family and is transferring to the Primary Reserves at 8 Wing Trenton, to be employed with 1 Cdn Air Div, DRT SET in early February 2009..
