We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer Gerald Henry Hamilton, CD (Ret’d) on 22 October 2013 in his 81st year at Riverview Health Center in Winnipeg.
Born in Preston ON, Jerry took his initial Sapper training in Chilliwack at the Royal Canadian School of Military Engineering and then served a full 28-year career as a Canadian Military Engineer. Among his postings, he had a couple of tours at CFSME as an instructor and served in the Field Squadrons in Petawawa and Germany. Jerry was Regimental Sergeant Major of 2 Combat Engineer Regiment, Petawawa, (1978-79). He was also the Canadian Exchange Warrant Officer at the Royal School of Military Engineering for two years. On his return to Canada from England he was posted to 1 Construction Engineering Unit in Winnipeg. He was appointed Station Warrant Officer at CFB Goose Bay. After retirement from the Canadian Forces, Jerry worked for ten years as a Mines Inspector for the Province of Manitoba.
A memorial service will be held at the Chapel of the Good Shepard, 17 Wing, Building 94, Whytewold Road and Silver Avenue, Winnipeg on Sunday, 27 October at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. {khApr14}
