We regret to advise of the death of Master Warrant Officer Steven Rose, CD of Owen Sound, ON in Owen Sound on 21 April 2019 at the age of 50 years as a result of complications during a hospital procedure. Steve was a Combat Engineer serving with 4th Canadian Division Training Centre in Meaford, ON.
Born in Jonquière, QC, Steve enrolled in the Canadian Forces in 1988 in the Royal Canadian Navy and served on HMCS Terra Nova until 1991. He then re-enrolled in 1996 as a Combat Engineer and served with 5e Régiment du génie de combat (5 RGC) in Valcartier QC from 1997 to 2005. Steve was then posted to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering in Gagetown, NB in 2005. His next posting was to the 4th Canadian Division Training Centre (4 CDTC) in Meaford, ON in 2009 and then back to 5 RGC in 2012. Steve then returned to 4 CDTC in 2015 and was serving there at the time of his death.Steve deployed to operations in Kuwait and twice to Afghanistan during his career.
The family will welcome family and friends at the Saguenay Funeral Home, 2580 St-Dominique Street, Jonquière, QC on Friday, 3 May 2019 from 2 to 5:00 pm and 7 to 10:00 pm and Saturday, 4 May 2019 from noon.
A Military Funeral will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm, at St-Dominique Church. Cremation will occur after the funeral and the ashes will be deposited at the Columbarium St-Dominique.
