After more than 27 years of loyal and dedicated service to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian Military Engineer Branch, MWO Winstanley, CD, will retire on 02 July 2024. A Depart with Dignity (DwD) ceremony for friends and coworkers will be held at 14:00 hrs on 20 June 2024 at the 4 ESR (D61) Wet Mess (2nd Floor). Dress of the day is ECU 5B. MWO Winstanley joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a Combat Engineer in 1996. Upon completion of QL 3 training in Chilliwack, BC, he was posted to 4 Engineer Support Regiment (4 ESR) in Gagetown, NB. He participated in various training exercises and deployed to Bosnia, Africa, and Haiti. He was then posted to the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering (CFSME) in 2004 for four years as a Bridging Instructor.
From CFSME, Steve served as the 23 Fd Sqn, 1 Tp Recce Sgt and 23 Fd Sqn Ops NCO at 2 Combat Engineer Regiment (2 CER). He deployed to Afghanistan in 2010, after which he was posted back
to CFSME in 2011 to serve as the Bridging Cell Tp WO. In 2014, he returned to 4 ESR as the 42 Field Sqn Ops WO, Resources Tp WO, and 45 Sqn SQMS as well as deploying to Napal. In 2016, he was back at CFSME for a third time, as the Tactic Sqn SSM. In 2018, he retuned to 2 CER where he was employed as the 45 Sqn SSM and the 24 Field Sqn SSM. In 2019, he returned to CFSME yet again, as the Admin Sqn SSM. His final posting in 2022 saw him return to 4 ESR for a third time as the 48 Sqn SSM and the QMSI.MWO Winstanley will enjoy his retirement in Cape Breton, NS.
