MGen Christian Rousseau will retire from on Tuesday, 5 August 2014 after over 35 years of dedicated service. MGen Rousseau is the commander of CFIntCom and CDI since July 2010. Inspired by his experience as a sea cadet in his home town of Repentigny, Quebec, MGen Rousseau joined the CF and, following his graduation with a BSc from RMC MGen Rousseau was commissioned in the RCE in 1984. After his junior officer years in 5e Regiment du Génie de Combat in Valcartier, he commanded 9e Escadron du Génie de Campagne in Rouyn-Noranda as a major (91-93), 2 CER (98-00) and 5 ASU and its three garrisons of Valcartier, Montreal and Saint-Jean (03-05).
Staff appointments included Divisional Engineer with 1 Canadian Division HQ (96-98), DS at CLFCSC (00-01) Chief Engineer and DGME at NDHQ (05-07) and, DOps - Defence and International Security at the Privy Council Office (09-10).
International operational assignments included military observer, force engineer and chief plans officer with the UNTSO in Jerusalem (90-91), FE for the Multinational Force in eastern Zaire in 1996 and DCoS for Support with the ISAF HQ in Kabul, Afghanistan (07-08). MGen Rousseauis a graduate of the CLFCSC (88), the CFCSC course (95-96), the Senior Joint and Combined Warfighting course from the US Armed forms Staff College (1997), the National Security Studies course and the Advanced Military Studies course (02-03). MGen Rousseau and his wife Elaine will remain in the Ottawa area upon his retirement. CFIntCom is holding a Depart with Dignity function in MGen Rousseau’s honour at the NDHQ WOs’, Sgts’ and POs’ Mess at 4 Queen Elizabeth Drive, Ottawa, starting at 1500hrs on Tuesday, 15 July, 2014.
